TOLEDO, Ohio -- Ohio Gov. John Kasich is just days away from announcing whether he wants to make Medicaid benefits available to more lower-income Ohioans.

The choice is a key element of President Barack Obama's health care overhaul. Kasich isn't saying which way he's leaning, but plenty of others are making it clear where they stand.

Organizations that represent a wide number of Ohio's doctors, hospitals and health providers are strongly in favor of expanding Medicaid.

The Ohio Hospital Association says doing so will increase preventive care and end up reducing the need for more expensive treatments and emergency room visits.

The most vocal opponents of Medicaid expansion are ones concerned about adding to the national debt. Tea party groups are warning that the costs to Ohio will be greater than predicted.
