Cleveland Clinic's new weight-loss surgery folds stomach in half

It's a minimally invasive surgery that folds the stomach in on itself, reducing its size 90 percent. Stitches hold the fold together. Patients are then forced to practice portion control or risk rupturing the stitches.

Lorie Prokup of Cortland was one of the first patients to have it done and she's lost 60 pounds in two years.

The surgery is meant for people who have 50 to about a hundred pounds to lose. It's not yet covered by insurance but eventually may be cheaper than the current forms of bariatric surgeries currently available.
