LAKEWOOD -- Lakewood City Schools Treasurer Tim Penton has resigned from his position effective July 31.
Penton cited "unforeseen circumstances" of a personal nature in his letter of resignation to the Board of Education.
Penton joined the district in August 2012, serving as interim Treasurer following the departure of then-Treasurer Rick Berdine.
He assumed the position of Treasurer on Jan. 1, 2013. Before coming to Lakewood, Penton was Treasurer for Whitehall City Schools for 12 years.
"Tim Penton has served the Lakewood City Schools well during his time as Treasurer," said Board President Edward Favre.
"He made great strides and improvements and worked collaboratively with the Board, the Superintendent and the rest of district, as well as those outside the district," Favre continued.
"We were disappointed to hear of his decision, however understand and respect his private reasons. We wish Tim the best and would welcome the opportunity to work with him in the future."
