CHARDON -- Gov. John Kasich was among those remembering three 2013 class members killed in the school shooting in February 2012.
Three roses and diplomas were set on stage in the honor of Daniel Parmertor, Russell King Jr. and Demetrius Hewlin. The three students lost would have graduated Saturday.
Kasich told Chardon High School students, faculty and families in commencement remarks Saturday the tragedy has strengthend them. He urged graduates to carry their sorrow and help heal the world.
Two students wounded on Feb. 27, 2012, graduated with their class, including Nick Walczak, who was paralyzed from the tragedy.
Walczak received a loud applause from those attending and a warm embrace from the Governor.
T.J. Lane has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting rampage. He was at Chardon waiting for a bus to the alternative school he attended.
