There's new leadership at the Cleveland Convention Center and the Global Center for Health Innovation, formerly known as the Medical Mart.
Mark Leahy, the general manager of Pittsburgh's David L. Lawrence Convention Center, will now lead Cleveland's convention center and the global center.
The official announcement is planned soon.
Leahy was with Pittsburgh's convention center since 2002. The David L. Lawrence center is a 1.5-million-square-foot, publicly owned and privately managed facility.
While there, he implemented and developed green practices and policies for the center, making it the first and largest Gold L.E.E.D certified convention center.
Until last month, Cleveland's Convention Center and the "Med Mart" had a different operator, the one who was involved from its inception, Chicago-based MMPI.
Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald announced in September that he wanted a new operator who would "strengthen and enhance its expertise in convention center operations."
Leahy was scheduled appear at Cuyahoga County's council meeting Tuesday afternoon.
