CLEVELAND -- A video of Ariel Castro that shows him being being interviewed by Cleveland police and Cuyahoga County sheriff's detectives is drawing more attention to the disturbing case.

NBC News obtained the video from an undisclosed source.

In the video, Castro describes several moments when he thought authorities were close to catching him.

He was worried security cameras outside Gina DeJesus' school got his image driving there moments before he lured her into his car.

He was anxious because a girlfriend visiting his house spotted a TV on in the out-of-the-way room where Michelle Knight was being held.

He claims he called Amanda Berry's late mother using Amanda's cell phone, telling her Amanda was OK.

The FBI acknowledges a mystery call came from Amanda's phone but says technology that existed then made it impossible to trace the call to Castro.

All police agencies and Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty say they were not the source of the tape.

One of his Castro's lawyers, Jaye Schlachet, said he has a copy but was unwilling to share it Friday with reporters.

Schlachet said he was not NBC's source and had no comment whether co-counsel Craig Weintraub might have been.

Weintraub did not return calls or text messages Friday.

A source claims Weintraub told McGinty the tape did not come from him.

The four-hour tape may eventually become public. Channel 3 is one of multiple news organizations that have asked all evidence connected with the case be made public.

Much of the video in NBC's story is said to be too explicit for broadcast.

Authorities are vetting those requests and deciding what information will be made available.

Through their lawyers, Amanda Berry  Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight had no comment on the video in NBC's coverage.
