If you played host or grill master this 4th of July, you probably broke the budget getting all the favorites: burgers, hot dogs and chicken.

All year, meat prices have been on the rise, but this summer, you're paying up for poultry.

The USDA says overall beef prices are up 1.7% percent. And ground beef is up 1.1%. That equals about 10 cents more per pound.

But now it seems poultry prices took a huge jump, leaps and bounds above beef. Chicken prices are up 5.6% more than what they were last 4th of July.

The prices are being blamed on higher feed costs. Last year's drought hurt the corn crop. Fuel costs are also rising, causing the jump in prices.
