CLEVELAND -- Relatives of Emilliano Terry were making funeral plans Monday for the 3-year-old boy.

Terry's paternal grandmother, Porsha Dotson, met with funeral directors at the Pernel Jones & Sons Funeral Home at East 71st and Cedar Avenue on Monday afternoon.  After the meeting, Dotson expressed her gratitude to the Greater Cleveland community.

"I want to thank everyone for being so helpful and sending out all your prayers for us and our family," Dotson told WKYC, "and helping us to get through this terrible, terrible situation."

The body of Emilliano remained in the custody of the Cuyahoga County Morgue on Monday evening, pending finalization of arrangements by the family.  Plans for a wake, funeral, and burial were expected to be firmed up within several days.

Family members have yet to decide on whether to have a public or private memorial service and funeral.

"Without the strength of everybody out there we wouldn't be getting through this," Dotson said. "And we're definitely going to try to get through this and that's what I wanted everybody to know."

The family on Monday established the Emilliano Terry Memorial Fund and said contributions could be made at any Key Bank branch.

Emilliano's mother, Camilia Terry, 20, has been charged with aggravated murder and is being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail.  The little boy's body was found wrapped in plastic bags in a trash processing facility one week ago.

The County Medical Examiner said he died of blunt force injuries to his head. Emilliano also suffered other internal injuries. He had been reported missing by his mother, but her story quickly fell apart.
