Kent State University held its 43rd annual commemoration of May 4, 1970, with events taking place from May 2-5.

The annual commemoration provides an avenue for the university community to come together to remember those lost and injured during the tragedy and also to reflect on the meaning of May 4 for today.

On May 4:

Gwen Ifill: From 4-6 p.m., the Washington Week moderator & PBS Newshour co-anchor Gwen Ifill moderated a panel discussion on: The Place of May 4 and the Visitors Center in History University Auditorium, Cartwright Hall, Kent State

It is a free event as seating is available

Oliver Stone starting at 7:30 p.m., film director, screenwriter, and producer Drawing on his sixties-era films, Oliver Stone shared his thoughts on: History and Memory in Film University Auditorium, Cartwright Hall, Kent State
