CLEVELAND -- Larry Dolesch is proud to be born and raised in Cleveland and proud to be a Cleveland policeman.

He wears badge number 2208.

He works in the 4th District helping and protecting the residents of historic Slavic Village.

But now Larry Dolesch is in need of help himself.

The four-time Distinguished Medal and Special Commendation Winner has been recognized for his heroic actions.

But  he's battling cancer.

His fellow officers are holding a fundraiser to assist Larry and his family through these trying times.

The event is Saturday, July 21 at 7 p.m. at the CPPA Hall, located at 1303 W. 58th Sreet.

Cash or check donations or items that could be auctioned are being accepted.

CPPA Charities is a not-for-profit 501c-3 and the donation is tax deductible.

Checks can be made to CPPA Charities with "Friends of Larry Dolesch Fund" in the memo section.

Dolesch has been a police officer for six years.
