General Motors is recalling more than 400,000 of its popular Chevrolet Cruze cars due to a risk of engine fires.

GM says it has received reports of 30 fires but no injuries.

The company says the fires occur when fluids drip onto a plastic shield below the engine and ignite. Most of the fires came, according to GM, during oil changes when spills weren't properly cleaned.

GM has instructed dealers to cut the shield to allow fluids to drain.
The recalls impacts cars built between September 2010 and May 2012 at the plant in Lordstown.

Owners of impacted Cruze vehicles will begin receiving recall notices in mid-July. The fix takes about an hour to complete.
