CLEVELAND -- John D. Rockefeller was one of their first stockholders and they were the first tenants to have offices in the Terminal Tower.
In this week's What Works, WKYC Photojournalist Mike Greene visits the Great Lakes Towing Company.
The Great Lakes Towing Company has been operating in Cleveland for more than 100 years. They build, lease, sell, and repair tugboats and other vessels for operators in about 40 ports, from Buffalo to Duluth.
But their business doesn't stop at the Great Lakes. They were awarded contracts in Pensacola, Florida, to dock and undock naval vessels.
They also were awarded contracts in Pearl Harbor, and are the premiere tug company in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
An expansion project has seen a new headquarters built, and the installation of a Mobile Vessel Hoist.
The hoist is the largest on the Great Lakes and the third largest in the world.
