Hollie's Dish of the Week: New Year's Eve Stir Fry

Growing up, it was always a tradition in my family to have Chinese food take out on New Year's Eve. My parents would take us to a movie after...then we would try our best to stay awake for the ball drop! This is a stir fry you can make from scratch--- and it's easy and amazing!

Hollie's New Year's Eve Steak Stir Fry


2 medium onions, chopped

1 tablespoon minced garlic

3 carrots, cut into "mini-sticks"

1 cup of peas (I just used frozen)

1 pound strip steak...cut into bite size strips

extra virgin olive oil

soy sauce--- about 1/4 cup (or more

cornstarch....roughly a tablespoon

2 teaspoons sugar

1 teaspoon ground ginger

salt, pepper to taste

In a large skillet or wok coated with oil, saute steak on medium heat until cooked through...season with salt and pepper and a few dashes of soy sauce.  Add garlic and onion.  Continue sauting until fragrant.  Add carrots and peas and saute another 5 minutes.  You want the carrots to be crunchy.

In a separate powl, whisk together soy sauce, corn starch, ginger and sugar.  Pour over stir fry.  The sauce will thicken up pretty fast.  If the sauce gets too thick for you, thin it out with a little beef stock until you reach your desired consistency.

Serve over rice or lo mein noodles.
