LORAIN -- Nearly 100 members of the Ohio National Guard 837th Engineer Company left for active duty Monday.

Their families and friends gathered in Lorain, with signs and American flags to watch the buses take off. The soldiers are on their way to Fort Bliss in Texas before heading to Afghanistan.

For many of the soldiers, this is their second or third tour of duty and family members tell us, it never gets easier.

"10 years ago, actually myself and Linda were standing in Norwalk, Ohio on their first tour and I just can't wait to be standing here for them to come home. And I miss him already," says Linda Hance, whose son Brian is on his third tour.

The soldiers are expected to return in about a year.
