Cleveland Browns Bernie Bread


3 lb. bread flour

1 lb. + 12 oz. water

2 oz. milk

1 oz. salt

2 oz. sugar

2 oz. fresh compressed yeast

1 oz. butter

1 oz. margarine



The above-listed ingredients must be prepared 3 times, in order to obtain the three-colored

Bernie Bread.

Mix ingredients until well combined. Allow bread dough to proof for 90 minutes. After bread has

proofed, add orange food coloring to the first batch and brown food coloring to the second batch.

Leave the third batch uncolored.

Cut each batch into 7 oz. pieces. Roll one of each colors of dough into a 6" x 8" oval. Layer the three

colors of dough on top of each other, then roll up the dough and place it in a bread pan. Bake at 375º

for 45 minutes. Allow to cool before wrapping.

Each loaf will be approximately 1 lb., 3 oz.


Total yield: 15 loaves
