BRUNSWICK -- Typically when you climb aboard a haunted hayride, you're the fresh meat. Sitting defenseless on the slow-moving wagon you shriek in fear as hordes of ghastly ghouls emerge and surround you.

But there's one haunted ride in Brusnwick that has decided to put you in control for once.

Photos: Zombie paintball at Mapleside Farms

For the first time, Mapleside Farms has unleashed Light Up The Living Dead -- a new Halloween hayride-style attraction in which all guests shoot at zombies with paintball guns and splatter them to "death."

The ride takes guests on a black-lit journey through the woods, making multiple stops along the way at various spooky scenes. Slowly, members of the undead (wearing protective suits) stumble from every corner toward the momentarily still wagon. But their craving for terror is cut short when they are officially "killed" by the barrage of glowing paintballs.

Halloween 2012: Expanded coverage

Admission is $15 per person, which includes 100 paintballs. An extra 100 paintballs can be purchased for $10.

The Light Up The Living Dead paintball experience, which is recommended for children ages 4 and up, is now open every Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. - midnight through November 3.
