One Sunday in the summer, an APL volunteer who was walking dogs heard the cries of little kittens near the front door of the building. Upon further investigation, she realized that the kittens were inside the garbage can. She retrieved them and in the process found their mother, who had managed to escape with one kitten, but refused to leave the garbage can where her other kittens remained. The momma cat, who we named Afina, proved to be a wonderful mom to her kittens, who were only about 10 days old. Afina and her kittens received a vet exam and all their vaccinations. They were sent to the home of a loving foster care volunteer to get lots of TLC while they got bigger. They came back to the APL in the early fall and were all quickly adopted!
