ATLANTA -- Copper thieves gutted a warehouse in northwest Atlanta that is rented out by Hollywood film companies. The thefts happened in between the shooting of two movies.

Atlanta police said the warehouse was burglarized on Christmas Day and again on New Year's Day. Both times the burglars broke into the building through a back door. Once inside the thieves spent hours pulling copper wiring as thick as one inch from switch boxes, and out of walls and ceilings. They even took time to strip some of the wiring before they loaded it up in a getaway vehicle.

On December 21, 2012 production was wrapped up on Arnold Schwarzenegger's new movie "Breacher". The building was empty until Monday when a portion of the production company for the sequel to the movie "Anchorman" moved in.

The burglaries should not affect the production of "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues". "I have absolutely nothing to do with that but they have a functioning facility where they can move as fast as they would like to move," said Rick Spiller, who manages the property.

Spiller said electricians and telephone crews have been working feverishly to restore utilities to the building. He said they have also strengthened security on the doors.

Motion sensors in the building alerted Atlanta Police during the second break-in on January 1, 2013. When police arrived on scene they boxed in the suspect's vehicle, a Chevy Tracker. After the suspects ran and got away police found copper wiring and tools inside the vehicle.

The vehicle's license plate was whited out and police believe it is stolen.

Paramount Worldwide Productions is the company producing "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues". They just started moving into the northwest Atlanta warehouse Monday. Shooting hasn't started yet and shouldn't be affected by the burglaries. Anchorman 2 is expected to hit theaters next December.
