Regarded by Northeast Ohio media pundits and observers as the most popular, recognized and beloved female personality in the history of Cleveland television, Robin Swoboda can be seen anchoring Channel 3 News weeknights at 7pm on WKYC-TV.

After working as a reporter/anchor at WTVJ-TV in Miami, Florida, Robin made her way back to Midwest and into the hearts of Northeast Ohio in 1986 when she joined WJW-TV (CBS) Channel 8 where she was teamed with Tim Taylor, Dick Goddard and Casey Coleman to form what Plain Dealer TV writer Tom Feran called the “original must-see TV” and arguably, according to Feran and fellow TV journalist Mark Dawidziak, the most successful and popular news anchor team ever in Cleveland television.

During her multiple “reigns” at WJW Channel 8, Swoboda gained unprecedented notoriety and acclaim that catapulted her television career helping her land two nationally syndicated television programs. She served as the co-host of “In Sport” with NFL star Ahmad Rashad and later hosted “Cover to Cover” with Oprah’s BF, Gayle King. Whether it was for the block or for the win, a career milestone was also reached when Robin was a celebrity square for a week on the legendary and popular game show, “Hollywood Squares.”

After departing WJW, Swoboda went to WEWS (ABC) Channel 5 where she served as the co-host of “The Morning Exchange” and later co-anchor of the 11pm news with Ted Henry.

In March of 2000, Robin stepped away from television to devote her time to her family including sons Matthew and William and daughter Hallie at their home in Medina, OH. In 2002, she was back on the radio as the co-host of the morning show on Christian station WFHM—95.5—The Fish.

Then in 2007, Swoboda returned to television at WJW-TV (Fox) Channel 8 as the inspiration and centerpiece of an innovative entertainment and information show called “That’s Life with Robin Swoboda” and later named “The Robin Swoboda Show.” Robin’s immense popularity and gifted performing talents were again recognized by her viewers and peers as she also earned a Regional Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2009 for her work as the host of her own program.

Looking to get back to her journalistic roots and love of television news, Robin then joined WKYC-TV (NBC) where she serves as the co-anchor of Channel 3’s 7pm newscast along with Chris Tye.

Channel 3 viewers, along with all of Northeast Ohio, will get that opportunity to experience the news “as only Robin can deliver” each weeknight at 7pm and soon they’ll sure to be echoing the sentiments of Robin’s mother when Tamara says: “She’s a nut, but I love her anyway.”
