Erin Kennedy is an award winning journalist who joined the WKYC news team in January of 2012. She anchors Channel 3 News Today with Chris Tye… bright and early from 4:30-7:00am.
Erin came to Cleveland from WPRI/WNAC in Providence, Rhode Island, where she anchored the 5:30 and 10:00 p.m. shows. Prior to that, she was the morning anchor at KAMC in Lubbock, TX. Fluent in Spanish, Erin has reported from Mexico; covering stories on immigration and the drug trade. She is also a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
While in Providence, Erin covered the World Series in Colorado, when the Red Sox swept the Rockies (which was challenging since Erin grew up in Colorado and loved attending Rockies games!). She also covered Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Arizona where the (then perfect) Patriots took on the New York Giants.
Erin considers it an honor to report on issues that affect her neighbors and her community, and works to support non-profits and community outreach programs that help women. She’s also an avid cyclist and logs hundreds of miles every summer, often while supporting non-profits, including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Now settled down on the West side, Erin and her husband, a musician, are excited to call Ohio home. They met while attending the University of Notre Dame, where Erin graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
Erin would love to hear from you! You can contact her on email, Facebook, or Twitter!
