CLEVELAND -- A former CEO of a credit union wanted by the FBI since a standoff in July has been taken into custody.

The FBI says agents took Alex Spirikaitis into custody without incident this afternoon at 3:15 p.m.

Spirikaitis had previously been charged with false credit institution entries. He had been wanted since July 17 after a standoff at his Solon home. The overnight standoff ended after police searched the house and found it to be empty.

A court appearance is scheduled for October 22 for Spirikaitis.

Spirikaitis was the CEO of the Taupa Lithuanian Credit Union on E. 185th Street in Cleveland. Regulators closed the credit union this past summer.
