Trumbull County: Serious injuries in Amish buggy accident

MESOPOTAMIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- Victims of an Amish buggy crash suffered serious injuries in Mesopotamia Township just after 1 a.m. Sunday.

A horse-drawn buggy carrying seven people was headed north on Bundysburg Road, when a southbound minivan drove over the center line, striking the horse head-on.

Both vehicles slid off the east side of the road.

The driver of the buggy, Mervin J. Miller, 19, or Middlefield, was taken to Geauga Hospital.

The driver of the minivan, Anthony M. Seaman, 30, of Middlefield, refused medical attention at the scene, but went to Geauga Hospital later on.

Their conditions are not available.

The names and conditions of the other six buggy passengers were not available.

The horse died on impact.

Charges are pending, highway patrol said.

The crash remains under investigation.
