CLEVELAND -- While many soldiers have returned safely home for the holidays, still others have given their lives for the sake of freedom.

An Ohio charity is looking to raise money to honor local fallen soldiers.

Pedal for Heroes is an event that will be held on Feb. 26 at the LifeCenter Plus Health and Fitness Center in Hudson and other fitness clubs.

Organizer Cassie Schumacher tells Channel 3 News she got the fundraiser idea by accident.

She was taking a bike ride in Clinton, Ohio when she got lost and stumbled upon the Ohio Veterans Memorial Park.

The main wall at the park is dedicated to the fallen Ohio men and woman who died in Vietnam.

The back of the wall is blank, waiting to be engraved with the fallen soldiers who served during the Korean, Iraq, and Afghanistan wars.

Cassie says she hopes to raise enough money to engrave the names of the soldiers who lost their lives in Iraq. Each name costs $60 to engrave.
