This position is working in R20 Outpatient Hematology Oncology Clinic. Previous Medical Assistant experience is similiar setting strongly preferred.

SUMMARY: Utilizes medical and administrative skills to provide support to patients and health care staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing assessments and treatments. Gathers information related to health maintenance and specimen collection and documents patient care given, updates health maintenance at patient visit, accurately identifies medication changes and updates allegories at each visit. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Administers specific medications under direction of physician. Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas. May assist in pre-visit planning, update of health maintenance tab. Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Must be a graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant Program. Current demonstrated clinical proficiency with phlebotomy required, proficiency in EKG desired. Completion of a clinical externship. MA Certification preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: CPR Certification required. Current AHA BLS Provider Card or must be obtained during New Hire Period. COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of CC Externship preferred. Medical assistant experience strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Manual dexterity to operate office equipment. May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting. Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision. Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Uses computer-aided design to create plans of radiation treatment, calculates the values of necessary parameters to deliver the prescribed radiation dose and dose distributions, assists in complex treatment setups at CT simulation and/or at treatment, and assists in clinical instruction of therapists, therapy students, dosimetry students and residents in existing and new procedures.Designs plans for radiation treatment by conferring with the attending radiation oncologist. Obtains final plan approval from the attending radiation oncologist and submits the approved plan to a medical physicist for review. Calculates the values of necessary parameters, e.g. monitor unit, gantry angle, MLC settings, to deliver the prescribed radiation dose and dose distributions and may be responsible for certain special dose-verification measurements (e.g. TLD in-vivo measurements). Bills for calculations, plans, custom MLC, etc. per patient according to department and CCF policy and procedures. Supervises complex treatment set ups, supervises special case setups in the CT simulator. Prepares all technical documentation required for treatment set up and record completion. Reviews patient treatment records for weekly checks. Participates in department quality assurance meetings, initiatives and implementation of initiatives, including general CCF quality improvement initiatives.Participates in department and professional education and training, participates in department meetings, peer review, and chart rounds, and assists section leader in training and implementation of new modalities and procedures. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in science, mathematics or engineering, or equivalent from an accredited college or university and supplemental training leading toward the CMD certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) certification by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board or equivalent preferred. CMD certification or equivalent required within 48 months of hire.

Health Unit Coordinators provide a high level of customer service to patients, families, visitors and employees, helping promote and support the highest level of patient experience. They perform administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficient operational flow of their assigned department.Demonstrate expected Cleveland Clinic customer service behaviors in all interactions. Conduct an in person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients. Respond to patient call lights in a manner that expedites appropriate follow through. Round on patients throughout their hospital stay as appropriate. Communicate and facilitate communication with patients, families, other departments and health care team members regarding patient care. Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Provide concierge service to assist patients and families with way finding and direct them to available resources. Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care. Assist with unit clerical functions as needed. Assist in trouble-shooting equipment failures such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma/GED, College degree preferred

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: None COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year experience in a customer service-related role. Prior job experience with typing or computer training or equivalent coursework; Microsoft Office experience preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision. Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
