Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - D.C. United has acquired forward Eddie Johnson from Seattle Sounders FC in exchange for allocation money.

Johnson led the Sounders in scoring the past two seasons, netting 29 goals with five assists in 65 appearances in all competitions.

"Eddie was a valuable part of our team the last two seasons," said Seattle owner and general manager Adrian Hanauer. "Eddie is a tremendous player who gave us some wonderful moments. This was an opportunity for us to receive allocation money that can strengthen our club in many areas. We wish him the best in D.C."

The 29-year-old Johnson was named to the MLS All-Star team in 2012 while also garnering recognition as the MLS Comeback Player of the Year.

Johnson has been capped 61 times by the United States national team, netting 19 goals, and he played in a team-high 17 matches for the national side in 2013.
