STOW --  Another black bear sighting in Northeast Ohio this time in the City of Stow.

The city's Parks & Recreation Department says the bear was last seen this morning at 8 a.m. west of state Route 91 in the Heather Hills neighborhood.

Black bears are native to Ohio and sightings are not uncommon.  There were more than 200 black bear sightings in Ohio in 2012.  The bears are protected by state law and are on the endangered species list.

While black bear sightings usually create a stir, experts say it's important to remember the bears are generally scared of people and do not attack unless cornered.  People should keep a distance if they see a bear and not approach the animal.
