CANTON -- Tucked away in Stark County lies a hidden gem. It's Gervasi Vineyards and business there is booming.
So much so that they're expanding their operation. We wanted to find out what was spurring Gervasi's growth so we sent WKYC Photojournalist Carl Bachtel to find out.
Drive through the gates of Stark County's Gervasi Vineyards, and you're transported to another place.
It's a little taste of Italy or a taste of Napa Valley right here in Canton.
The century-farm-turned vineyard and restaurant came to life three years ago, but Gervasi offers so much more.
One building is called the Villa Grande. It kind of feels like a grand Tuscan home. There's a ballroom that can be used for corporate events, for small weddings, plus there are private villas for that special getaway.
As you're taking in the spectacular views, you may forget they produce a great selection of wines. Gervasi's success has them expanding. The cement has been poured on their new "Crush House."
And another eatery is expected. It's a showplace for tours, for people to really learn about wine, experience wine.
And their expansion will also bring something else -- more jobs.
They have about 170 people on staff and, with the crush house, they will be adding approximately 40 positions.
Gervasi Vineyards is a great venue for a wedding and, with Christmas right around the corner, you can find unique gifts in their "marketplace," including a gift that keeps on givin -- cooking classes!
