Police: Missing Stark County teen found safe

JACKSON TOWNSHIP -- Jackson Township Police say missing juvenile Emma Elizabeth Newland, 14, has been located and is in the process of being reunited with her family.

She was found sometime around 2:25 p.m. Friday in Medina County.

Police said no further information was being released regarding where she had been and why she was missing.

The Jackson Police along with the assistance from the Canton FBI office and Canton FBI task force members extend its gratitude to the citizens of Wayne County and the assistance of the law enforcement agencies in Wayne County .

Their efforts of actively patrolling their counties and utilizing their social media outlets played a great role in alerting the public. Barberton police also assisted when asked to check locations in their city.

Police say an alert was issued for Emma Wednesday night. She was last seen walking by a pond near her home and entering some woods.

Police identified the area as High Mill Avenue NW in Massillon, near Fulton Drive NW and Revere Avenue NW.

She was last seen wearing grey sweatpants, a peach-colored top and flip flops.
