Police detective returns fire after being targeted at crime scene

CLEVELAND -- Cleveland Police are investigating a felonious assault on an on-duty detective.

Cleveland Police say a Crime Scene Investigation Unit Detective was shot at early Thursday morning while processing a burglary scene on the east side.

Residents called police after hearing gunshots in the area of East 121st and Luke Avenue around 2:30 a.m.

Police say at that time, a CSI detective was at his car and multiple shots were fired at the detective.  Several near-by homes were also hit by the spray of bullets.

The CSI detective returned fire and it's not known if the suspect with the gun was hit.

Detectives and officers are looking for the suspect.

The CSI detective was not hurt.
