TOLEDO -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a potentially armed and dangerous suspect ran away during a Wood County traffic stop about 2 p.m. Thursday.
Troopers are warning Toledo area residents to be on the look-out for a suspect that attempted to pull a loaded handgun on a trooper during a traffic stop on Interstate 280 at the intersection of Interstate 80 in Wood County.
The suspect fled the scene of the traffic stop on foot and was last seen running northwest from the Ohio Turnpike.
The suspect is Patrick Laverne Hammond, 42, of Lorain, and he should be considered armed and dangerous.
He was last seen wearing a light blue long-sleeve shirt and dark blue work-style pants.
Hammond is currently on federal probation for armed robbery. The Patrol, with the assistance of the Toledo and Lake Township Police Departments, continue to search the area.
Additional charges related to today's traffic stop are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
