North Canton: Different hit-skips put drivers behind bars

NORTH CANTON -- Police were busy with two hit-skips in two days.

The first one happened Friday at 6:30 p.m. Police say James Houston of Barberton hit another car on East Maple Street and Marquardt Avenue.

Houston reportedly took off on foot and on Saturday morning police caught up with him. Houston was charged with assured clear distance, driving under suspension and leaving the scene of a crash.

On Saturday night, police were call out to another hit-skip in the 100 block of North Main Street. Tony Hill of North Canton allegedly hit another vehicle and injured its occupants. Police would not say how many people were in the car at the time of the accident.

Hill drove home where he was arrested. He has been charged with assured clear distance, operating vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, leaving the scene of a crash and resisting arrest. He was processed in the Stark County Jail.
