COVENTRY -- A 44-year-old man was arrested after police say he crashed a truck into a Summit County Sheriff's deputy's cruiser, resulting in a three-vehicle accident.

The Canton Post of the Highway Patrol says the incident happened at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday as authorities were conducting a traffic stop on the southbound side of Arlington Road near Krumroy in Coventry Township.

According to authorities, James Aronhalt was driving a 1997 Dodge truck south on Arlington road and "failed to stop or move over." That's when authorities say his vehicle crashed into the back of the deputy's cruiser, which pushed it into the rear of a Springfield Township cruiser.

All of the officers were outside of their vehicles at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported.

Aronhalt was arrested and taken to the Springfield Police Department where authorities say he refused to provide a breath sample. He has been charged with operating a vehicle while impaired, refusing a chemical test and failure to maintain an assured clear distance.

He was issued a summons into court and later released.
