ASHLAND -- The U.S. Marshals made their annual awards Thursday in Ashland.
They selected the Citizens of Ashland County as recipient of the Annual Citizen of the Year Award.
The U.S. Marshals District covers 40 counties and Ashland County was recognized for their outstanding contributions and assistance with law enforcement and the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force in the apprehension of Nathan Summerfield.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, "...I have never seen a town come together more closer and more determined in bringing someone to justice."
Former NFL Quarterback Bernie Kosar was the guest speaker for the event.

2012 Wayne Leon Task Force Officer of the Year Award nominees Paul Siegferth (Akron PD); Jose Montes (Lorain County SO); J.J. Bittinger (Richland County Probation); Marc Thompson (Ohio Adult Parole Authority - Toledo); and Greg Manente (Girard PD)
- 2012 Susan Graves Task Force Division of the Year Award to the NOVFTF Richland County Division
- 2012 Law Enforcement Partner of the Year Award to the Linndale Village Police Department
- 2012 Citizen of the Year to the Citizens of Ashland County for Support and Assistance to law enforcement in the capture of Nathan Summerfield
