High school seniors all across Northeast Ohio are getting ready for one of the most memorable nights of their lives -- Senior Prom.
But something both parents and students might not forget for a long time is the rising cost of the entire evening.
A study by Visa found overall average spending on prom costs a family around $1,200.
The dress alone is one of the biggest expenses for both students and families. Costs have gone up 5 percent this year because of rising prices in China and shipping.
But off the beaten rack, there are bargains to be found.
At the consignment shop Vintage and Vogue, owner Alicia Roach has dresses under $100, either a quarter or a third the cost of regular full-priced stores.
And some that haven't even had their shot at a special night.
"I've got a lot from the bridal store that closed, brought me a bunch of prom dresses with tags still on," says Alicia Roach.
If you still need to get formal wear for Prom, Vintage and Vogue is offering WKYC viewers 20% off if they mention this story.
