Papa John's delivered a lot more than just pizza to millions of customers and it's getting them in hot water. Customers say the pizza chain sent out half a million texts offering pizza deals. Some customers got 15 or 16 in a row and in the middle of the night. Now those customers have filed a $250 million class action lawsuit saying the texts broke the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. Plaintiffs are seeking $500 per text, but could get $1,500 per text if a jury rules Papa Johns willfully broke the law.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has just approved a new federal mandatory safety standard for infant swings. The new standard requires more testing, more explicit warning labels and manufacturing specifics to help prevent injuries and deaths. This all takes effect in May of 2013. Between May of 2011 and May of 2012, the CPSC received 351 reports of swing related injuries or deaths.
