STOW -- The man charged with breaking into an apartment and raping a Stow woman, 24, Friday pleaded not guilty in court Monday morning after his arrest Sunday.

Filip Kostantinovich, 49, was held on $500k bond and his case will go to the grand jury.

Brimfield police caught up with Konstantinovich was spotted by a Brimfield Wal-Mart employee Sunday and the employee called police.

The employee saw him leave the store and get into a silver Ford Taurus and drive off.

Brimfield and Tallmadge Police chased after Konstantinovich until he crashed his Taurus into a utility pole on Mogadore Road and Howe Road.

Officers broke the window of his car and removed him from the vehicle. He was taken to Stow City Jail.

"It was great to get this guy off the street and into custody," said Chief David Oliver, of the Brimfield Police Department.

Stow Police say a woman was sexually assaulted at knife point in her apartment Friday morning. Police, who received the call about 7:30 a.m., said the woman recognized the man as a neighbor but said she didn't know him.

She told police that, before the man left her apartment, he told her he planned to commit suicide.
