BRUNSWICK -- The Brunswick City School District says it has now decided to close Brunswick High School for the remainder of the week due to an outbreak of the norovirus.
The district had previously closed all the elementary and middle schools due to the virus and those schools still remain closed.
The district says on its web site it anticipates the schools all reopening on May 28 (the day after Memorial Day.)
The norovirus is an extremely contagious ailment that typically causes vomiting, stomach cramping and diarrhea.
In closing the high school the district says all building events are cancelled but outside events, such as sports, are still on as scheduled. Prom and after prom activities are still on as currently scheduled.
The remaining senior exams have been cancelled with the exception of the following: Seniors who need to pass a final in order to pass a class, and seniors who want to take a final to improve a semester grade. Those seniors MUST report to school on Tuesday, May 28th at the regularly scheduled class period time to take their finals. All others will be exempted from the final.
Students and parents are encouraged to check the district's web site for updates. http://www.brunswickschools.org/site/default.aspx?PageID=1
