COLUMBUS -- Former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland declared Treasurer Josh Mandel should not be an elected official.

"I think Josh Mandel is unworthy for public office, based on the campaign he ran for treasurer and the campaign he ran for treasurer and the campaign he ran agianst Sherrod Brown," Strickland said.

"This young man could have a positive political future only if he changes his ways and renounces running campaigns based on half-truths and outright lies."

Strickland urged Mandel to apologize to voters. He made the comments at an intended celebration for Democratic candidsates at the Hilton in Columbus.

Strickland predicted victories both for Sen. Sherrod Brown and President Obama in Ohio. He said he is not thinking about -- but has not ruled out -- the possibility of running for governor in 2014.
