STRONGSVILLE -- Governor John Kasich and First Lady Michelle Obama are each hoping to "swing" Northeast Ohio, as they both hit campaign stops throughout the region in the next two days.

Kasich spent Sunday attending a pancake breakfast, going door-to-door in Rocky River,  and attending a rally at Baldwin Wallace University in Strongsville, all in support of presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The state's improving economy is making campaigning more complicated for Republicans.

Ohio's unemployment rate is more than a half-point lower than the national average.

While this may bolster Kasich's reputation, it makes Romney's pitch for change a harder sell to voters here than in other states.

"If we elect Romney, I think we can do better... We're doing much better as a state, but I think we can be doing much better if we can see this overall economy improve," said Kasich.

On Monday, First Lady Michelle Obama will speak at the Cuyahoga Community College Metro Campus Recreation Center.

She will also attend events in Shaker Heights and Parma, all in support of President Obama's campaign.
