WASHINGTON D.C. -- The most expensive, grueling and one of the most divisive Presidential campaigns in history is now over.

And it produced -- the status quo. President Obama must deal with a split Congress -- Republicans controlling the House and Democrats in charge of the Senate.

Republicans are expected to let the President offer specific proposals for tax and spending reform.

House Speaker John Boehner says there is no mandate from the people other than to work together toward solutions.

The Republican Party also faces challenges. The election results have pundits declaring it is too old, too white and too male to survive as America's population gets younger and more diverse.

President Obama won the election with overwhelming support from African-Americans, Hispanics, women and young voters.
