LONG POND, Pennsylvania - Three fans attending the NASCAR race at Pocono Raceway were struck by lightning Sunday in the parking lot behind the grandstand.
Pocono spokesman Bob Pleban says two fans were taken to a hospital, and there was no immediate word on their condition. The third fan was examined and released.
The race was called because of rain with 98 of the 160 scheduled laps completed. The track posted warnings on its Twitter page near the end of the race encouraging fans to "seek shelter as severe lightning and heavy winds are in our area."
