TIFFIN -- Fire investigators say smoking materials and burning candles were found in the area of a trailer where a deadly fire started that claimed six lives.
Investigators say they have officially ruled the fire cause as undetermined. But a fire chief in Tiffin tells the Associated Press investigators are nearly certain either the smoking materials or the candles sparked the fire. Investigators say they found no evidence of a criminal act involved in the fire.
The children, four girls and a boy ages 1 to 6 died in the September 15 fire.
An adult male, Timothy Fresch,25, also died. He was the father of the boy who died. The mother of the girls was at work when the fire started.
Rescuers say the little girls were found in a back bedroom and a hallway. Fresch and his son were found in another bedroom.
Investigators say there were working smoke detectors inside the mobile home.
