Morning lows dip into the 40s across northern Ohio

CLEVELAND - Clear skies and light winds helped temperatures slide in the 40s overnight across northern Ohio.

For the first time since June, much of the northern part of the state saw morning lows dip into low to mid 40s.

Among major reporting stations, Wooster was the coldest at 41 degrees, while slightly warmer conditions were reported along the lakeshore thanks to Lake Erie with its temperature sitting at 72 degrees.

No new records were set according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland this morning. The record low for Cleveland today is 40 degrees, set in 1976.

Here is a look at some early morning lows for select cities through 8 a.m. Friday morning:

Cleveland Hopkins: 48 degrees
Lorain/Elyria: 45 degrees
Ashtabula: 43 degrees
Akron/Canton: 48 degrees
Wooster: 41 degrees
Mansfield: 45 degrees
Youngstown: 43 degrees
New Philadelphia: 43 degrees
