PARMA -- Parma Police say officers arrested a man who was wanted for escape earlier Friday morning.

Mario Wiley, 24, of Cleveland is being held in the Parma jail on charges of escape and resisting arrest.

Just before 10 a.m., Wiley entered the Bureau of Motor Vehicles Driver's License Reinstatement Office located at 12000 Snow Road.

An off-duty Parma Police officer working at the BMV Office determined that Wiley was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office on a charge of probation violation.

Wiley was handcuffed and escorted to a police cruiser. At that time, Wiley broke free from an officer and fled into a thickly wooded area on the northwest side of the BMV.

Parma officers conducted a search of the area.

During the search, a helicopter from the Cleveland Police Department Aviation Unit responded and provided aerial support for Parma officers who were searching on foot.

The Parma Police Department later received a report that a man matching Wiley's description was seen in the area of Kaiser Hospital.

Officers responded to the area and Wiley was seen in the woods near Bryant and Stratton College, which is next to Kaiser Hospital.

Officers continued to pursue Wiley on foot and he was arrested at the southwest corner of Snow Road and W. 130th Street.
