COLUMBUS -- This is the time of year that many high school and college students are stressed out over final exams, graduation and sports.
Unfortunately, many are turning to misusing prescription drugs.
A new national study found that one in four teens has misused prescription drugs in their lifetime, that's up 33 percent over the past five years.
Not only that but one in eight teens admitted to using Ritalin or Adderall to improve their performance. Those drugs are usually prescribed for ADHD.
We found many local college students saying that it's not uncommon to hear of Adderall or Ritalin abuse.
Judy Stenta, from Bellefaire JCB SAY Program, which does youth risk surveys, says it's starting at an earlier age.
"We often hear that they want to be number one in academics, sports or going to the best college and they want to perform at a high level," says Stenta.
