AMHERST -- Police investigating whether this robber is the same one that robbed the Pure Gas store an hour earlier on Friday.

Just before midnight Friday, police were told a man with a knife had just robbed the Junction Drive Thru at 1111 Milan Avenue.

Police were told the robber was being chased by an employee and was last seen running northbound across the railroad tracks. After crossing the tracks, the suspect entered the residential area of the Apple Orchard Estates.

The foot pursuit was seen by off-duty Police Officer Sgt. Dan Makruski so he began to pursue the robber and was able to catch him in a field behind the Faith Baptist Church on N. Lake Street.

The man was identified as Nicholas R. Thomas, 25, of Lorain, and he was charged with agravated robbery.

The Amherst Detective Bureau is investigating whether this robbery and the Pure Gas Station Robbery are related.
