CLEVELAND -- The man charged in the deaths of a Maple Heights woman, her unborn child and her two children, went before a judge for his arraignment in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

He appeared with his attorney James Young. The arraignment judge continued the $1 million bond that had already been set by Bedford Municipal Court Judge Harry Jacob.

Calhoun, 48, of Warrensville Heights, was charged for a two-vehicle crash just before 10 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Northfield Road and Berwyn Drive.

He was charged with four counts of aggravated vehicular homicide. Other charges are pending.

The additional fourth charge is for the unborn baby.

A Maple Heights mother and two of her daughters were killed in the crash. Police say Calhoun ran a red light and slammed into the vehicle with a 30-year-old mother and her four children inside.

The pregnant mother, Maria Thorpe, and two of her children, Zariah Roberts, 8, and Zayanah Roberts, 5, died from the crash, as did her unborn child.

Another 12-year-old was treated and released from the hospital and police say Monday that the 10-year-old is still listed in critical condition and is on a ventilator as ofTuesday.
