COLUMBUS -- Former Ohio State football star Andy Katzenmoyer has been arrested on a charge of violating a protection order.
The court clerk's office says the 35-year-old from suburban Westerville pleaded not guilty Friday in Columbus and was released without having to pay bond.
The circumstances of the protection order and the alleged violation weren't immediately clear. Court records didn't list an attorney for Katzenmoyer.
A woman who answered a phone number listed under Katzenmoyer's name said he's not at that home. Katzenmoyer lettered for the Buckeyes from 1996-98 and won the Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker in 1997.
He left Ohio State a year early and was taken in the first round of the 1999 draft by the New England Patriots. His pro career was cut short by injuries.
