CLEVELAN D -- Cleveland Municipal Court records show that a new judge has been assigned by the Ohio Supreme Court to hear Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed's drunk driving case.

The Ohio Supreme Court assigned Larry Allen, oif Willoughby, to the case.

The case was originally assigned to Judge Pinkey Carr but she recused herself Tuesday. Cleveland City Council oversees the court's budget and that may give the appearance of impropriety if a Cleveland Municipal Court judge hears the case.

All of the other muny court judges then recused themslves from the case.

Allen, 74, retired from the Willoughby Municipal Court bench in December 2011 and is available for visiting judge assignments from the Ohio Supreme Court.

Reed, 51, was stopped just before 2 a.m. March 5 near East Ninth Street and Rockwell Avenue on suspicion of drunken driving. He has pleaded not guilty.
