ROCKY RIVER -- The first green-renovated luxury home in Northeast Ohio is now complete.
Beverly Maloney-Fischback, CEO, Founder & Publisher of Organic Spa Magazine, the nation's leading eco-lifestyle consumer magazine, and her husband, David Fischback, President of Cleveland-based construction firm, The Krill Co., were the brains behind the work.
"What is unique about this project is that it is the renovation of an existing home using the latest in green-build technologies," says Maloney-Fischback. "Of course we are seeing greater use of green materials in new construction projects. But we would like to see an increased focus on the tremendous opportunities to use these same elements in the renovation of older homes."
The couple worked with award-winning green architectural firm, AODK Inc., based in Lakewood, to convert a brick colonial home in the Cleveland-area suburb of Rocky River into the first eco-luxury home in the region.
The couple and their two children recently moved into the home and a Media Open House is scheduled for March 21.
The project, dubbed The Rocky River Green Home, features a touch of almost every green-build design element available to homeowners today. Solar panels, grey water recycling, rainwater harvesting, high-efficient heat pump system, Energy Star appliances, LED lighting, luxury bamboo flooring, eco-friendly plumbing fixtures and a sophisticated energy-efficiency monitoring system top the list of green-build features.
In addition to the second story yoga room, special design features include a luxury green kitchen, a sauna room and a striking master bedroom suite with an eco-spa themed master bath.
All the building materials, interior design elements and furnishings were sourced based on their level of sustainability, durability and quality.
